Piloting the concept
To pilot the concept we will start small by reimagining an abandoned 100+ years old family-house located in an administrative centre of Ozurgeti, in the region of Guria, Georgia.
Ozurgeti and its surrounding small cities and villages count 153 schools with up to 30 000 pupils in total. In the larger region of Guria, more than 70 000 young people reside at the moment. Out of which more than half is assumed to be unemployed. Another half earns up to 4 GBP per day.
On another hand, there are tourist destinations nearby with the black seaside in 30 min drive and spectacular mountains in 2 hrs drive. Hence, it’s a hop over stop for travellers.
Nalya considers several operational units:
Residency - Nalya will host digital nomads as residents who will also serve as trainers for the centre and provide in-kind mentorship. Residents can set examples to local youth that they can work from anywhere and still be part of a global economy.
Cultivatoria - Youth agroclub that will grow the next leaders in agriculture, equipped with skills, knowledge and confidence to leverage environmentally friendly, yet modern practices to increase the agricultural output and innovate.
Tech Club - that brings the digital literacy and the understanding of the modern technology landscape close to the local youth and not only, through meetups, training, hackathons and more.
Business Incubator that would challenge local youth to rethink the local potential and follow entrepreneurial journeys that would bring economic welfare, innovate and scale.
As a long-term vision for Nalya it stems to become an established concept of creative hubs for youth in rural areas.
Thus, it will consider and test different models of replication to create a network of Nalya hub first in Georgia and then beyond.
Nalya’s pilot in Ozurgeti can set an example for other youth that they should go back to abandoned places and innovate.
